I saw Sleater-Kinney in Chicago on Thursday night. I've been trying to find the words to describe this experience but all I can really come up with is:

OH. MY. GOD.

No, seriously. Oh MY God.

See, I've liked S-K in that "Woo they rock yea!" kind of way for a year or so. Now I want to drop on my knees and kiss their feet.

We got there a few hours early so I was in the front row, right in the very center. I guess any show is more intense when you're that close but... Holy Moses, people. This show easily rivals my U2 experiences for *Best Show Ever in the History of Music* I'm not usually the type to really get into a show but I was totally rocking out (in a somewhat subdued, mid-western type of way). Just... wow. My favorites were "Get Up," "Step Aside," and "Entertain." Actually, I think "Entertain" is the best single to come out this year. If it doesn't make you rock out... well, you're clearly insane.

I've never understood why S-K isn't more popular. By all accounts, they should be the biggest band in the US right now. They're definitely the most talented. I guess chick bands just don't sell billions of records which, of course, is stupid. Sleater-Kinney rocks harder than any guy band out there. Shoo.
