We saw "Garden State" on Friday night. I really liked it. It's funny without being patronizing, sweet without being sappy, romantic without being dippy, and sad without being a Lifetime movie moment. I'm really surprised that I didn't cry. I did a little. Not as much as I did tonight while watching "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition." I was straight up bawling. Anyway, if you haven't seen it yet, go see "Garden State." I wish Zach Braff was my boyfriend but he's a busy guy and probably wouldn't have the time and devotion that I demand in such situations. But I'd still like him to be my boyfriend. I'll just keep sending TrackBack pings to his blog until he notices me! That'll work.
Speaking of relationships that will never happen, and you're really going to hate me for this one, I bought He's Just Not That Into You. Oprah is all over this book for some reason and you know that if Oprah is all over something, so am I. Actually, I didn't even catch the show with the book's authors, I watched the "After the Show" on Oxygen. I highly doubt it's all she's been hyping it up to be but hey, it's worth a shot, right? There are subjects I know a lot about, men are not one of them. Who knows? Maybe it will change the way I think about boys and relationships.
You know what my niece does now? She dances. That's right. SHE DANCES. A lot like Elaine from Seinfeld, actually. You say "Madison, dance!" and she stops whatever she's doing and kind of jerks around and twitches. She's also starting to make words, most notably "cookie" and "please." And she says "Uh oh!" a lot. She likes to sit in my lap with a book. She tries to destroy the book and I try to read to her. I love that kid.
I don't want to jinx it but I think my creative funk is starting to subside. I actually created something in Photoshop tonight without ripping my hair out and throwing myself on the floor in a fit of rage. Sweet.
For a moment there, I thought that that book and the Little Earthquakes book were by the same author since their designs are so similar.
Maybe I should start watching Oprah on days off. The only problem I have with the show is that when I see ads for it, they're like all about the girl who's face was burned off in a fire or something like that.
